i have just started ripping dvds,
and now i want to learn how to copy
video's to vcds using my pc.
what cards will i need and what
software?????
which is the best stuff to use

Hi I just recently started burning vcd's myself and ripping dvd's. You need to convert your file to mpeg format and then use nero, or adaptec or many others to burn it. To convert the ripped dvd file use TMPGEnc. Hope this helps.

I think he means ripping his VHS collection.
Well, the best way to do this depends on how much you can spend on this. You can get a (cheap) all-in-one card and rip to uncompressed avi, or mpeg.
More expesive, but easier would be to get something like the Dazzle DVC 2. Which can record directly to MPEG 1 or 2 files.
Search the forum for more info on available card etc.
