  1. Hi, I'm new to everything with vcd's, but I've looked around for an answer to this and can't find it. I'm using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4's Video CD Creator and attempting to put a menu onto the vcd to navigate through my music videos that I am putting on it. However, when I try to insert an image to use as a background/menu like they say, it gives the error "The file ".....", will not work in a VCD player. To make this file video CD compliant, you will need to use an MPEG encoder that supports video CD encoding."

Now this doesn't seem like it would be a problem, just go out and find an encoder...except that I tried that and for some reason I can't seem to get one that will allow me to make these *.jpg files able to be converted into anything usable. This might have a simple answer that I don't know about, so I was hoping this would be a good place to ask some people. It also says this about some of my mpg or mpeg videos, but mainly I am concerned with getting it to be able to put in my created menus and pictures. Thanks in advance.

Couple of ways to do this....
If you were using Nero for the VCD it supports simple menus....with what ever background pic you choose...Nero will also let you drag and drop still images just like they are movie files...and make a VCD with em on it ( i thing nero makes them into mpegs on the fly)...
Another way is to take encoder (I know TMPG works) and set still image as video source and use any file as audio...Then encode as mpeg.
There is a complete HowTo under photo albums (i think) on the left there.

  3. Look to your left at the "How to Author" link. Click it, then scroll down till you reach the section with several guides detailing how to make a VCD/SVCD slideshow with still images.

    Best of luck!
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
