  1. I have ripped some VOBs totalling 3.x GBs and merely want to burn them onto a new blank. But every guide I stumble across talks about re-encoding for SVCD or DivX, and all the burning software I use doesn't seem to either recognize VOBs or says they are invalid.

I ripped with DVD Decrypter, now what?

    Any help is gtreatly appreciated!!!

  3. Sorry, back to a blank DVD+RW. I mean, I have scads of room, it's only 3.something GBs. But nothing seems to work. I don't want to have to convert the VOBs to MPGs just to make it back into a DVD.

  5. This seems to work as advertised, but that's not how I am hoping it can work. When I use Decrypter to rip just the VOBs, the movie only files amount to the 3.x GBs. But the ISO yields a 7.x GB file. So, I don't want all the extras (documentaries, deleted scenes, menus, whathaveyou). I just want the main movie, which is small enough to fit onto a fresh DVD+RW. Anything else I can try?

The short answer, yes with an if.

The long answer, no with a but.

You gotta rip it to files (not an ISO) and then if the movie itself is small enough, you gotta use Ifoedit to reset all the VTS sectors and such in order that the film will play using only essential files.

www.doom9.org can teach you the entire method.

Yes you can burn vobs directly to a dvd-r, this is how its done. Lets take the usual suspects.

    1. first rip the entire dvd to a folder

    2. Open the main movies ifo file in ifoedit and strip all the language packs and bonus material off. (I just want the movie) Do all this in another folder.

    3. then open up ifoedit and pick the new ifo from your new folder that was created from the above step and hit on "get VTS sectors" and then hit save.

    4. Now your movie is done. [this is important]- in your folder, make another folder and name it VIDEO_TS then take all the files of your movie and put them in there. So you have a folder named VIDEO_TS and it contains your new movie. Its under 4.3 GB so why not just burn it to a dvd-r. (Here is where your question comes in)

    5. Open RecordNow Max (can be downloaded anywhere- 30 day trial) and hit on new data DVD project. First you have to change a few things. CLick options:

    In CD box
    - change recording typr to "track at once-closed"
    - change file systme type to "UDF- Up to 128 in filename length, any char., plus 8+3 tree (Bridge)"

    In DVD box
    - change file system type to "UDF with Joliet - Up to 106 in length, any char., plus joliet 8+3 tree (Bridge)"

    and click ok.

    6. click on add files and find the folder "VIDEO_TS" and click add.

    7. CLick recrod and you have a DVD-r that plays a perfect DVD
