I recently bought a Lifeview Flyvideo 2000 Video Capture card. It comes with an mpg capture program (it's called Flyvideo too) which I don't really like because the quality is not as good as I expected. So I tried using Virtualdub, but it doesn't seem to recognize the card and it crashes. I tried PowerVCR II but everytime I try to open it, it crashes. What can I do??
How can I make it work with Virtualdub and/or PowerVCR??
Thanks in advance.

Sorry to say - but ditch the Flyvideo card
I have - actually had a Fly3000 - which is almost the same but with stereo audio instead of mono - not that it mattered. It now props up and old aircraft model
The drivers are WDM drivers and not very good ones at that - this is why Virtualdub will not work.
XP does include a WDM > VXD video wrapper but something in the fly drivers fails to work or connect properly - I then tried to find alternate drivers that would work - only to find HEAPS of third party software / drivers for brooktree BT8x8 chips but nothing for the Philips SA????? that the fly uses. I was not able to take the card back and bought a Provideo PV951 - which uses the Brooktree BT878/879 chipset - this is much better supported and I can cap 704x576 ( PAL ) in XP Pro
There are some stores in Australia at the moment really hyping Fly cards - I think a number of people after a cheap capture card will get burnt -
i'm sadly another one of those who hastily bought a flyvideo 2000 and have submitted to the fact that i can't video capture. i've been waiting patiently for lifeview or someone to come out with an updated driver but this has yet to happen. funny enough, i used to be able to capture with a previous version iuVCR. it was unstable though, crashing every now and then, but at least i had the thrill of video capturing for a while. unfortunately, i upgraded and the new iuVCR doesn't seem to work with flyvideo anymore. is there ANY capture program out there which might support flyvideo? i don't care even if it sucks.

Sad but true I am a sucker too with the 3000 series. I have at times captured succesfully at the standard pal res of 352x288 from vhs using the high end settings of the divx codec through virtual dub, but anything above that(resolution) vdub crashes without doubt each attempt. And this card is the only thing that also gives me the dreaded BSof Death in windows.
I have emailed the creaters of this card in Taiwan explaining the problems and what they can suggest many times only to receive no response, so I take it that the company realizes its selling a cheap dodgy card the pricks.
So my last email basically said that the name flyvideo was been denounced in Australia as cheap crap not even worthy of thinking about purchasing.
My two bitsworth, so when my misses has the TV tied up with bloody soapies I resign myself to the computer and watch half decent TV, pity I dont have any model airplanes.
Cheers
