  1. Hi all,

    I have been playing around ripping DVD's to various files (MPG, AVI, VCD etc) and so far have been unable to create anything that will play in my standard UK PAL PS2 or my Samsung 709 DVD player.

    Can anyone please help with the best software to use and the best CD's to use. Is what I am trying to do possible. Files always playback perfectly on my PC!

    Any help/hints would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

    Hi Dave
    The PS2 will not play VCD`s not without special software,which has not been made yet (I may be wrong it could be out there somewhere)
    As for your DVD player not playing your vcd`s, does it support cdr`s.I had a DVD player that would not play cdr`s but it would play cd-rw`s you could try them.You could also be do`ing something wrong in the making of the vcd it`self.what programs are you using to make the vcd.
    Hope this helps.Weeman

  3. Hi there,

    I have tried several programs the best of which seems to be dup-dvd although it is only burning disk one of two? I have read some other comments on here about that with no real solution.

    I have a Samsung DVD 709, I have tried several different CDR's, just about to go and try a CDRW. Have you any suggestions on the best software to use?

    Thanks for the reply

  5. Quotes from other forums;

    I have a Samsung 709,To get a vcd to work you need traxdata silver or a samsungcd-r 74s disk.This works just fine

    OK, as promised an update on the Vivastar CDR's. They work on the Samsung 709. I had to burn it as VCD V2.0 tho' as the plater didn't like 1.1. This is dead easy as Nero support writing V2.0 Discs. I am now a very happy person burning my own Vids to CD. These are available from ARGOS

  6. You may want to try burning your VCDs onto CDRWs. See whether your player reads them better.
