I'm tearing my hair out over this.
I have some DVD-RW discs that we made when transferring old VHS footage to DVD. Each DVD has perhaps 10 - 20 chapters. I can play them on the Samsung that recorded them, another Panasonic DVD player and it seems, nothing else!
I'm trying to get them onto my PC. (or Mac, I have access to both) The drive reads the disc OK and I can see there is a folder with a .VRO and .IFO and .BUP file.
I seem unable to find any software that will read the MULTIPLE titles within the single VRO file and demux them to VOB or MPG.
I have tried;
MPEG Video Wizard 5
TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4
PowerDVD 10
DVDFAB8
VCDGear 3.55
but nothing recognises the DVD as having valid data.
The best I can do so far is rename the VRO to MPG and that seems to allow me to play the first chapter on the DVD, but nothing else. I guess that makes sense as I'm just renaming a file - but at least I can see the right video.
Is there anything else out there that is known to actually read multiple titles in a VRO file. It seems amazing to me that this is not a common requirement and better supported by software but I guess the lack of standards let the DVD recorder manufacturers get away with anything in the early days. It's a Samsung recorder if that makes any difference.
Advice appreciated!

Unfortunately I and the DVD's are in London, the recorder is in Belfast, so it's not a current option. Whether or not the recorder has a 'finalize disc' option for DVD-RW I can't remember.

If they're CPRM encrypted you'll need relCPRM.

All the recordings are normally contained in a single VRO file, you just need to split it into individual programs.
If you don't have Nero Vision, there is a free program, MPEG Streamclip, which can be used to import a VRO file and divide it into individual recording sessions, although splitting the VRO file must be done manually. The Windows version would be preferred, unless you already have the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component installed on your OSX machine.
Once the VRO has been split and exported to headerless .mpg files, AVStoDVD can be used to make a DVD with a simple menu out of the .mpg files. -
This is not the whole answer, but you can verify if there is more than one "title" in the .vro file & view the "titles" within a .VRO by using Power Dvd. I have V8. Open power dvd up, find button "select source" pick the dvd-rw & the drive, it starts playing, hit the "menu" button, select "program set viewer"....that tells you there are more than one title in the file...play each "title" the info box will tell you the lenght of each title...its a start.....sorry after that you have to manipulate the titles by some other method.
