I wish to express my thoughts on the latest drivers from ATI with the MMC 7.7 and the Capture Drivers.
I have had the previous drivers loaded on a fresh install of XP Pro for several months & I was capturing some great VCDs & DivX films, it looked great but ( as many of us ) then I decided to try the new drivers from ATIs website since they were claiming that a SVCD template was icluded & it is an update to the MMC 7.6 . Well let me just say it this way " If it ain't broke, do not fix it" and this is soooooo true
After loading the drivers I decided to capture my typical daily Xfiles episode ( yeah I am cheap, I do not have the money to buy the DVD box set ) and then I went on to remove the commercials, that is when I noticed that the quality of the video sucked really bad, there was these squares over the bodies & the picture was fuzzy. I have then decided to plug in my XBox to see what type of quality of capture will I get - it sucked. So then I called my brother to take a look at two different captured video, one before the upgrade & one after, he even said ( before I said anything ) that the first one looked better.
So without boring you more I uninstalled the drivers & everything else that was part of it & reinstalled the older drivers, man it is so nice to see a great picture again.
    Hope this helps someone.

hi m8 i was gonna swap my geforce2 64mb for a radion 64mb tv out as the geforce requires tvtool to get rid of the black borders.i have tvtools but doesnt get rid of borders completly.so annoying.also with the lower quality films using tvtools the quality seems not as good no matter how you alter tvtool settings.i dont know what to decide

  3. I agree...

I updated to 7.7 and now using SVCD, the audio is out of sync. I haven't gotten around to going back to 7.6 (which is nice and stable). Glad to hear that the reversal was successful.

  4. Hi I also made another post saying 7.6 is better then 7.7 and thought it might be my see's as i can see you think the same thing. there are more block's in 7.7. ATI came out with this upgrade to fix the audio from44100 to 48000 as any one with ati card's ever upgrade is a fix and ton's of bug's come with any upgrade they make

  5. I also made the mistake of upgrading to the newest capture drivers (though I am still using 7.5 MMC with no problems). I have also noticed a VERY dramatic decrease in the quality of captures. My problem is I haven't been able to find the old capture drivers to reinstall them.....help. Does anyone have the older capture drivers?

    thanks,
