I have successfully backed up one dvd and I'm quite pleased with myself for that feat. However, the second one I'm doing is giving me trouble. Using smartripper to rip, and dvd2avi to convert. The first 3 times I ran dvd2avi, no audio track came out. I switched to track 2 and got the .mp3. However, when I go to run TMPGenc ... it doesn't recognize the .mp3 as the audio file. Do any of you have any ideas on what I should do?

    Growing weary of this ...

  2. In DVD2AVI there is an option to do mp3 encode. This is optional and if not selected it will create a .wav file. See audio menu in DVD2AVI (decode to wav or MP3 output depending on version of DVD2AVI)

  3. I believe that WinAmp can export an mp3 to wav format.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  4. Use Musicmatch. It will take your mp3 and turn it into a wav file.

Yep, I like MMJB (or SoundForge, ideally) for conversions, but I thought I'd recommend freeware, just in case.

    Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the posts. I upgraded my DVD2AVI to the latest version (1.86), and everything went just fine. I was running 1.76 previously. I still don't know how I got the first backup done ... but I've got #2 done, and moving on to the next!!!

    Thanks again,
