  1. I just found out my DVD player does not play SVCD's..however it does play VCD's..my dilemma is this: i have downloaded a shitload of SVCD's..is there any way i can convert the SVCD's to regular VCD's simply so that i may match them on my DVD player?

  2. I had the same problem. I have a copy of the new scooby doo film on SVCD. However when I tried to play it the dvd (panasonic dvd-xv10) used to skip or just refuse to play it.

So after searching around a bit on the net I found this information.

You need to use a program called TMPGEnc..

    Start the program up:

    Goto File > MPEG Tools

Make sure the tab selected is 'Simple Multiplex'

Select the file you want to work with and select an output file

The select MPEG-1 Video-CD for the type.

Hit RUN and within 6 mins you will have a svcd file but with a vcd header.

Then Just burn to disc as you normally would to create a VCD

(Note if you get any warnings about the file being non-complaint or non-standard ignore the warnings!)

    Hope this helps..

  3. mickc1303, this works great on Panasonic and some other players but not on all. If your player can handle CDR media and VCD format but not SVCD and the re-multiplex trick described does not work then the only real option left to you is to re-encode as VCD format.

  5. ok, I'm going to try to use your method..however I'm a bit stumped on something. my svcd can in a .bin and .cue format..within the .bin are 4 folders, EXT, MPEG2, SEGMENT, and SVCD..now in TMPGenc there are places where you select Video and Audio input..however I'm not sure where the Audio input is..i know i can use the MPEG file in the MPEG2 folder but I'm stumped as to what to use for audio..can i use the .mpeg file for the audio as well?...any help greatly appreciated.

  6. yep just use the mpeg file.. the program should automatically recognize that when you select it as the video source file that it contains audio as well
