  1. I have learned a bunch from reading this website and forums. Geat stuff.

I recently bought a ATI TV Wonder VE card and it captures TV video at 640x240 8mb sec, with 44k 16 bit audio as an mpg file.

I try to open the video file in premiere and get a error:

    Unable to open that file.
    File is an unsupported type.

I try to open the file in tmpeg and get a similar error:
"Cannot open or unsupported." I even bumped up the priority for the direct show multimedia in VFAPI and it still doesnt work.

Is there any video program that can open these mpg files?

I can play them just fine in Windvd, I just cant open them in any editor or conversion program.

has anyone else ran into this problem?

    thanks

  2. Its sounds like you are encoding in MPEG2, you might need a codec. If so then just encode in MPEG1 and up the bitrate a bit...

  3. Thanks for the quick reply. I have divx5 codec installed, and the updated windows media player.

The ATI TV recorder doest specify a codec, just mpg or avi.

I tried a capture in avi format and got the same message. It does sound a like a codec may be missing , any idea which one?

I have all the standard ones show up in flaskmpeg, huffvey, cinepack, microsoft, divx etc..

    thanks for any ideas

  4. Which MMC version are you using? The one supplied on disk or MMC 7.1 from ATI's website?
