  1. i have successfully burned one movie to a svcd..and it was regular size...
now i have been trying to burn a svcd that is in wide screen format...i am using tmpegenc to do it...what am i doing wrong! it plays fine in half of the screen, and then below the screen, it has the original dvd player's screen constantly flashing like a strobe light, very annoying.
I have tried the no margin setting but it did the same damned thing! Is it the resolution? the movie resolution is 620X272...if I change that the NTSC standard, it will be 480x480, and that would stretch the people right?
please help, i want the movie to be in letterbox...but maybe in the future i want to make it into regular size..
    help?

Most standalone SVCD players (dare I say all?) do not support the (anamorphic) widescreen flag to display your 16:9 picture as a letterboxed image on a 4:3 television set.

The most you can do is play your 16:9 encode in a software player that will support the anamorphic widescreen flag. The only software player I know that will do this properly is PowerDVD. However, PowerDVD does not autorun SVCD's.

I have asked several times in this forum for people with proper 16:9 televisions (digital or not) if their 16:9 encodes display properly on their televisions, but I've received no response -- so I stopped asking.

Theres an Aiwa portable that supports SVCD (and MP3), so I was considering buying it to test out an anamorphic SVCD. If I can actually find one for sale on the net, I'll report back.

As a side note, does anyone know if Chao-Ji Video Disc supports anamorphic video? I know SVCD doesnt support it directly, but SVCD is supposed to incorporate most (if not all) aspects of Chao-Ji?
