    Is it possible to directly copy a DVD using a dvd drive and a dvd burning in order to preserve quality?

    Not that I know of.
    Maybe there will be some kind of hack for CloneCD4 (which is also capable of burning DVD's), but all other programs require either images or files on your hard-disk.
