so the video only capturing I will be doing with this card is throught the firewire?

As far as I know, this is an audio only card. I'm thinking the firewire is a throughput for external devices, but I could be wrong.
Its a great audio card, but that's all it is.

This is "live drive" just an accessory for the sound card. It uses extension cables to move ports to the front of the PC. Creative has the PDF manual for this thing, at:
http://www.americas.creative.com/support/manuals/welcome.asp?centric=207As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war." -
Yes, you can capture DV via the Fire Wire port with this card. I've used it with Pinnacle Studio 7. Hope this helps.

that is exactly what i wanted to hearnow i need to decide on a digital camera

Yes, and do take note you do not need the platinum card to capture DV. The vanilla Audigy also has a Firewire port (as you can see on the pictures above). Pretty good deal if you ask me: for less than 100 USD you get both good audio (Audigy is way about the Live card in sound quality) plus a Firewire port.
