  1. Hi all, just found this page. As I said im very new to this sort of thing!

I have two computers. One is a laptop which holds my DVD-ROM, the other computer is a desktop PC with has a CD-RW. Now is it possible for me to convert a DVD to SVCD or VCD? I think it is possible but I wouldnt be able to burn it to a CD-ROM since my toher computer has that internal. Any help? Thanks

  2. my advice is to peruse the how to sections for newbie's, authoring, and doing DVD rips. Those guides should get you on your way.

ps. you can if you cable to two systems together and rip from the DVD drive and then move the data over to the computer with the cd burner.

To get more info on dvd rips, go to search and type in dvd rips. There are quite a few posts out there for that.

  3. Thanks for the info!! I'm still quite new at this stuff. How can I rip from my DVD-rom and transfer to my other computer with my CD-RW?

The only thing I see holding you back is the need to transfer the files from your laptop (it has the DVD-ROM) to your desktop (the one with the burner...)

You would probably hafta set up a network between them. Or get a cheap dvd-r for the desktop...

Other guy is right, look to the left for the HOW TO section when you are ready to start!

Simpleaset solution I can think of is at www.tigerdirect.com as they have a USB network thingy there. That would be much easier (and cheaper) than setting up a home ethernet based network...

  7. I would just add a DVD drive to your desktop pc. I often see some on sale for like $39.
