  1. I have several (UNI) .wmv files from IRC that I have had no success in converting to AVI for VCD burning. I have tried loading them into my Virtualdub that supports ASF, and it tries to examine the file finally failing not able to find a "MP4S codec".

I tried the ASFTools mentioned in other posts. It reads the file fine, goes thru the process of creating an AVI file just fine, but the resulting AVI file will not load into Virtualdub either - it asks for the same MP4S codec...

The .wmv plays fine in Windows Media Player, but the ASFTools created AVI will not resulting an error with no message available for it.

    Any help appreciated.

  2. Try using TMPGEnc. Though it does not list the file type of .wmv, in the file selection list (use the *.* option), it still converts. The output will be a .mpg file which can be mad into a VCD.

How long will this take for a 400mb WMV file?
