I've spoken about this earlier in another thread but now I'm put 2 and 2 together and think I've figured out what the problem is, but not how to fix it.

The vob file I have has extras in it as well as the start of the movie and I cannot trascode it to a lower bitrate (is trascode the word?) because every program seems to see it as one second long because of the extras... anyone know how i can rip them out? Even if I split the one in question to a M2V and AC3 file the M2V file still cannot be converted.

BUT if i put them back together into an MPEG it can be played in media player, it plays a slide show, then the trailers, THEN the main movie. However that file cannot be skipped through, any attempt to do so will make me have to start it playing from the start again, and any encoders (TMPGenc being my main encoder) will only see it as 1 second long reguardless of rather is is a VOB or M2v file
I'm hard up for an answer as more and more that I'm playing with are doing this. Please help.

    Problem is solved!
Loaded the VOB file in questions into vstrip and it will hang, BUT if you have it split the vob at every cell it will rip out the extras and let you find JUSt the movie files. Bad news is I doubt I can save the menus like this, but at least I can make new ones now.
