  1. I tried to install the Nimo Codec Pack 5.0 Build 7, but during the installation, I get an error:

    Error opening file for writing
    MSAUD32.ACM

What's this MSAUD32.ACM file? I'm using WinXP Pro. I've uninstalled the DivX Player and codecs, but still no luck. I've also uninstalled DVD2SVCD (not sure if I need to do this), but Nimo still doesn't install properly. And I can't find information on this forum and others.

The file was probably in use, Windows Media Player would have installed the codec, apart from that was there any other problems ?. If not I would not worry about it.

  3. When I searched for it using the "Search" function, it doesn't locate this file. Do I need to install something else before installing the Nimo pack? Or is this just a compatibility issue (Nimo thinks I'm using WinME when I'm using WinXP, and WinXP doesn't use this file anymore)?

I tried to download it yesterday. I kept getting incomplete downloads, until I went to the fourth or fifth link and it finally worked.
    Hello.

  6. OK, I finally solved the problem. I recently re-installed WinXP, so WMP didn't have all the codecs that it needs. When I tried to play a MP3, WMP went online and downloaded some codecs. Seeing that, I tried to install the Nimo pack again and everything went perfectly. I guess you can't install Nimo unless you have all the "default" codecs installed. The codec that I needed was the "Windows Audio Codec."

Then a work around might be to make a file with the same name.

    File > New Text file > MSAUD32.ACM
