I am about to install a Lite-On 32x12x40 drive, how do I change the reg info on Nero so it will recognize the new burner? When I install Nero & entered the Serial it told me that it was for a Phillips ( which is my old burner ) but now I need to change it to Lite On

    Thanx

start nero, cancel the wizard and from the top tabs choose recorder, when that drops down pick the option "Choose recorder" and then choose your liteon, easy as that.
Welcome my son, welcome to the machine.

So I do not have to change the serial number?
I was told that the serial number I have is for the Phillips CDRW only since it was the copy of Nero ( Hardware Bundle )

The copy of nero you have may only be able to see the burner it was sold with. You may want to uninstall it and install whatever came with the burner... in my moms case it was nero with the liteon also.

  5. If you go to Nero's web site (I think it's http://www.nero.com) and hunt around, you'll find a discussion of this. Basically, you can pay them $19 or so, and they'll send a patch that will convert the OEM one-drive-only version of Nero to a version that can use any CD-RW drive. Since you got the OEM version for free (or bought it at a bargain price on the Web) that $19 is a pretty good deal.

For GOD'S HOLY SAKE do not install Roxio burning software! It puts stuff in the registry that prevents Nero or other programs from working properly. It took me a week of hunting to find all the junk they left in my registry, to remove it and get Nero working properly.
