I just ripped my first DVD and followed the instructions on this web site and it worked perfectly so thanks for that. But it takes so long are there any ways in which the time it takes can be reduced?

It does take a long time. I don't think there is any short cuts unless you want to give up quality. Are you just playing it on a pc or a stand alone DVD player? If a stand alone then I think I found the solution. Get a macrovision free DVD player an a Dazzle II capture card. Then you can make DVD quality movie by just copying and burning.
