I am ripping with Smartripper ver 2.38, and usually one of the main film vob's are corrupted.
It always seems to occur about the middle of the film ( vob 3 usually), and all the others play ok.
Could it be the ver of Smartripper? Should I try the latest version? Or could it be an error with the reader?
Grateful for any help.

Could be... could be both.
Could also be a scratch/stain on the disc, could also be a DMA problem etc...etc...
Try a different ripper (i.e. DVDDecrypter or CladDVD) sometimes that helps.
Try to rub the disc, sometimes that helps.
Try rebooting your system...might help
Try enabling/disabling DMA..might help.
Once in a while I have the exact same problem and everytime something else causes and solves it.
So far out of about a 100 discs I ripped just 4 were in the end really "unrippeable".
Really last solution might be pushing the "retry" button or really last last last option....push ignore. (Sometimes it's just that one and only frame that can't be read and what's just one frame out of 29/23/24/25 each second uses in a movie of i,.e. 105 minutes. You won't notice it even)There R 3 sides on every story;

Thanks for the prompt reply Mars!
I tried Smartripper ver 2.55 and that seemed to rip the vob's that others could'nt. If the problem re occurs then I will try your suggestions and go for a different ripper. -
You already did try another ripper
as I mentioned in one of the solutions.
