using Smartripper,Graphedit,Dvd2avi & Tmpgenc to convert Dvds.
when project is completed & played there is always an instance of macro block some where in the film for 5-10 seconds. Is this common ?
This is on all films I have converted . Is there a solution or is it something you have to put up with![]()

Why are you uncompressing, and re-compressing, just to put it back on DVD? Your dropping image quality. Just use IFOEdit to strip out the extra's, like the trailers, unecessary languages, etc. The main movie will usually fit on one DVD-R. If not, then you could split it onto two DVD-R's, or worse case, follow the path your taking.
If your seeing block noise, then your compression settings are now allowing enough bitrate when you re-encode, or your motion detection is not set to one of the higher (slower) settings.
DVD has more than enough bitrate to eliminate block noise. If your seeing it when you re-encode, your doing it incorrectly.
