  1. Hello: I have tried this in the past with no luck. Now I want to get back to my Video editing hobby. I like to extract, cut and paste scenes from movies. Just the scenes I like to a compilation video. First I used 2 VCR's then a Miro DC30 card in the past. Now I want to work from DVD's. I have never been able to get the Mpeg-2 editors to work on the DVD video. I did rip and demux first. But the editors just don't cut and paste. The editors I tried (all the ones listed here) will not recognise the video properly. I must be missing a step. Or maybe the DVD version of Mpeg-2 is not supported for editing?

I would like to be able to do two different types of cuts/pastes. One with no/minimal re-encoding. I can do this on Mpeg-1 VCD's but is it possible for DVD Mpeg-2 video? To do dissolves, etc I also want to do full editing that will recompress. And then, if at all possible, I want to cut and paste my recompressed parts with non-recompressed parts. I can do all this with Mpeg-1 VCD videos. Is this possible with video extracted from commercial DVD's?
