  1. I have a problem...i have over a 100 movies...and i first burn them on to my cd-r's as data files..so that i can put it back onto my computer later and burn it as vcd or any other whenever i want..

    NOW>..i have come across my 2 movies that when i drag onto my desktop ..it says error..read only files can not copy or rename>>>what does mean?? all of the data files are read only..

    What is wrong weith those files..are they diff types of files??
    Is there another way to copy those files onto my desktop so that i can them back onto my hardrive?? Thanks for your help....i really need answers!!!i am so frusturated!!!!!!!!

  2. When files are burned to a CD-R as data usually the read only attribute is set. You must remember when you copy them back to the hard disk this attribute is not cleared causing lots of strange problems. Right click & select properties, uncheck the Read Only box.

  3. when i unckeck the box it says error can not change..what do i do???????

  4. Reboot and make sure you are administrator. If it still does it try in a command prompt to change it with the Attrib command.

    There is one other thing that can occur if the following is true
    You are using :-
    Win XP
    VirtualDub with AVIProxy turned on
    you are trying to delete a AVI file

    Turn of VirtualDub AVI proxy - you won't miss it.
