  1. I am trying to capture a PAL video using ATI AIW pro 128. I am able to watch the PAL video on the MMC7.1 TV but once I start capturing the video in PAL 640x480 format 25fps, 3000KBps.CBR, I can capture it for first 30 secs of video after that the last frame loops overlapping the actual video.

Has anybody faced a similar issue?

I am using a PAL vcr which gives output in PAL and I am playing a PAL tape. The only hint I could get on ATI site is if the Video is recorded as Copy Protected then it can happen. But I am using a home made PAL video on a VHS tape.

  2. How do you get sound using that card? I have the same one but can't get sound thru it. I dont know how. I have an old Creative PCI 128 sound card.

But recording video Ive never encountered that problem.

The drivers and MMC 7.1 combination are a bit flaky when it comes to copy protection with PAL. I used to get it invoked with basic FTA TV captures. Very annoying

    Remedy:
Upgrade the drivers and MMC to 7.5 or 7.6. By doing this all my macrovision capture problems went away.

    Cheers

  4. Thanks for the info. I will try that. But will MMC7.5 work with ATI AIW 128 pro? From the ATI site it says only MMC 7.1 is compatible with 128Pro.

I also get that problem very often. But it started when I upgraded to MMC 7.1 , Before that I never had any problem with Audio.

MAke sure that you open the Program-> Accessory -> Sound Control window with Recording property. Once you detect the input line on it and you see a green bar changing its height with the audio level, select that channel for recording (Mostly it will be the Line-In). Then only start the recording on MMC. Also keep the MMC TV open while you set the Sound Recording Properties otherwise as soon as you open the MMC it resets the properties.

It does. I'm using an AIW 128 Pro AGP with Win98 in an Athlon 1.1G box. Make sure you get the latest driver and DirectX 8.1 installed. I used 7.6 for a while but had a problem with the scheduler - all other bits worked fine. I'm back to using 7.5 so I can use the automatic recording thingie. It's all working great now, I can now get 2 episodes of enterprise per XSVCD at a quality approaching what I see with the FTA.

  7. Great it worked. I just upgraded to MMC 7.5 and all looping is gone. No more CopyRight protection issue.

Good to hear. If you have any more MV issues use Stinky's reg tool to turn it off - I think you can find it in the software section here.

  9. Hi
I have a similar problem (well, not entirely identical).
I'm having a hard time trying to get MMC7.5 to capture properly (looping)with ATI AIW 128 Pro under win2k SP2.

There are no IRQ conflicts reported by w2k and my MOBO's VIA chipset has that latest "4in1" drivers with the BIOS' latest flash upgrade available from the manufacturer's web site (Gigabyte).

ATI can still capture very well (without the looping problem) under win98se, though, but I would prefer to do the whole thing without switching between two OS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Michael.
