  1. Ok i use Tmpgenc + Nemo codecs to convert a 23.976 fps Divx file to VCD using the NTSCFilm template. Everything converts fine.. sound in sync etc.. When I play the MPEG there is a noticable "jerkyness", both on my PC and on my stand-alone (Pioneer 343)..

  2. this is because NTSC has 29fps and the divx has 23.96 this means that it has to add frames to get it to NTSC.
This mean that the 23.96 frame is duplicated until it hits the 29fps and so on.

There is no way you can sort the jerkyness unless you encode it in 23.96
    hope this helps

  4. What is your motion search precision and field order?

Field order is only applicable with an interlaced source!

An obvious point, but is the DivX jerky?

Some DVD players don't handle NTSC(film) framerate very well, but that doesn't explain why playback on your PC is also jerky.
