I'm trying to capture from my tv card at a high constant bit rate, with the intention of then using TMPGenc to recode to a variable rate to fit to DVD, so that I can fit one movie to each dvd, but if the movie is shorter, it will have a higher quality. However, when I capture at 12bit constant, then try to recode in TMPGenc, TMPGenc crashes within a few seconds of looking at the mpg1 file. Is it because I'm capturing at too high a bit rate? If so, what's the max I should use? Hard disk space is not an issue, as, as mentioned above, I will select the variable settings to allow the movie to fit into 4.7gb......
Thanks.
