  1. I used Pinoy's Guide to DVD Ripping.

I put in my father's copy of Silly Rabbit, Dicks Are For Chicks and started Smart Ripper. I got several vob files, as usual. As per the guide, I went to DVD2AVI, then Audio, selected None for the tracks. Then I saved the project.
Next step was to open vob2audio and load the voblist. However, when I do that, I get an error popup that says "LigosSplitter seems to miss an audio stream! Use the AudioVob-option in SmartRipper! or use VobTools to delete first segment"

I also get this same message with Ram That Clam. However, everything went flawless for several other DVDs of his.
Well, the thing is that I've returned the DVDs to my father. But I have the vobs sitting on my computer still from these last two movies that had errors.
How do I fix it so I can burn them and get sound? When I play the vob files in PowerDVD, I hear sound, so I know it's there. But I can't use SmartRipper, since I no longer have the DVDs, and I have no idea how to use VobTools to delete the first segment.

    Help.

I have the same probalem as does ALOT of other people. You can do 1 of 2 things. When using dvd2avi instead of picking none for audio track pick track 1(Make sure when its done you check to make sure that output is in the laungage you want) or you could use Graphedit: http://www.doom9.org/graphedit_wav.htm <-----Follow this guide.

-Hope this helps. If you do find a fix to get vob2audio to work let me know.

  4. Thanks ninja, but what do I do after that, since I can't use TMPGEnc to merge the DVD2AVI d2v file and the Vob2Audio wav file?

you load the d2v as your video source and the .wav file from either dvd2avi or graphedit as your audio source.

I think thats what your asking

  6. Using the Method of Track 1 via DVD2AVI, I got an AC3 file, not a WAV file... so how do I go about merging the files? I don't even know what program to use to listen to the AC3 file and TMPGEnc looks for WAV, AVI, TPR, or MPG files for audio, not AC3...

DVD2AVI puts out a wav file. The name of the wav file says something in it about ac3 but.......I would just try to load that outputed file in TMPG and see if it will accept it. Im almost sure its a .wav though.

    Let me know.

  8. It created an AC3 file, so I found an AC3->WAV converter and did that. The 100meg ac3 file became a 500meg wav file.
I loaded the d2v file and wav file in TMPGEnc and clicked Start.
Instead of the normal 6 hours, it is taking about 24. I'm halfway through now.
I'll let you know how it went.

What are the stats of your computer? And are you doing DVD>SVCD or >VCD? Also are you doing 2-pass? give me all the info you can.

As far as dvd2avi making a ac3 file there is a way to have it output a wav file. That way you don't have to convert it.

Holly crap Ninja. Nice setup.......but i'll tell ya one thing, w/ those stats your and its taking you 24hrs your for sure doing something wrong!!!!!!!

For example, When I ripped(Backed-up) the movie Valcano with 2-pass 224kbps audio at 300/1183/2396 it took about 8hrs.

    What templete are you using?????

Here are the audio settings that I use in DVD2AVI

    Under audio:

    Track Number: 1
    Channel Format: Dolby Digital
    Dolby Digtail: Decode
    -----------Dynamic Range Control: Normal
    MPEG Audio: Demux
    48 -> 44.1khz: Off

    Im using version 1.76

I don't know what to tell you then. I always get a .wav file from DVD2AVI. As far as it taking 24hrs there is something wrong for sure. May want to give Sefy's guide a try. Thats how I got started.
