  1. Hi Folks

I have two serious probblems. The first one is when opening an . wmv or .asf file with the wizzard TMPG opens a window "Judging fild order" and freezes at 7%. When i try it without the wizzard and want to set the source range TMPG freezes too. Why? How can i convert an .wmv to SVCD?

The other question is whitch settings do i have to use with an source-format of 512x384, 720x576 or 512x400? Is there an special trick or something? I tried various settings but got only conehads.

    Thanx

  2. you can't open a wmv of asf file. Mircosoft has a copyright on this.

  3. Is there no other way do solve that problem? It took me lots of time to get the movie?

And why does it funktion without the wizzard? Only the preview doesn´t work properly.

You might be able to find an older version of Vdub or TMPGEnc that used to support .asf if they are out there. As far as the resolution, I what are you trying to convert to?

TMPGenc will work with ASF/WMV, with limitations.

Firstly, it's not actually frozen. On a fast machine, I have watched as that operation sloooowly grew all the way to 100%. But it's not worth the wait.

That's what happens with any resolution of ASF/WMV higher than 320x240. If you open that movie in Windows Movie Maker, and save it as a new clip at 768k, you will be able to easily open and manipulate the new file with TMPGenc and convert to mpeg.

You lose tons of quality, but that's microsoft for ya.
