  1. hey dudes
    alright i have two questions
    1) i have read about DVD2SVCD 1.01 beta 11 and it sounds perfect for me, but what is the deal with SVCD's ??
can they be played on any standalone dvd player.. or whats the compatibility difference?

2)im using Tmpg to encode my vcd's .. i just use the newbie guide on this site, but im starting to realise my files only coming out to 490 meg and stuff... i have the quality on highest, im just wondering if theres anyway of turning the quality up.
thats the main reason im interested in DVD2SVCD 1.01 beta 11 because of the apparent quality.
    anyways..
    any help would be appreciated
    thanks alot in advance

  2. Check the compatibility list in dvd players. You can check the WHAT IS vcd and svcd to see the differences between the two formats.

Increasing the bitrate will increase the quality. Try one of the SVCD templates to play around with.

was the 490meg for a full movie??? that seems pretty low for vcd???

  3. There is a very big diference between regular VCD and SVCD.
Vcd is similar to VHS quality (352 x 240 res.)
Svcd is similar to DVD quality (480 x 480 res.)
Check with this site to see compatibility with your DVD player. Dvd players that decode SVCD runs at 2x speed. This is because svcd bitrate is 2600 kbps versus vcd bitrate of 1374 kbps.
