locked cd-rom drives

i am running windows 2000 and nero 5.5.2.4

my scsi cd-rom drives become locked all the time and are unaccessible through explorer.

however, i can run "cd-info" under nero and see the disc there. i can also copy a disc that is put into a locked drive.

what gives?

thanks.... but it really isn't a matter of the disc not ejecting.

when i select a drive in windows explorer, it opens that dialog box asking me to put a cd in the drive.

what gives?

i'm not sure if nero does this as well, but i remember that when i used to use cdrwin, it would lock all my cdrom drives while the program was still open. [actually it might have been nero at that]. anyways, try closing nero and then checking explorer.

i have tried doing that... the only fix is to boot the pc with the desired disc in one of the scsi drives.

my ide dvd-rom has no issues whatsoever

ive had this problem with windows 2000 myself, i found a lot of programs and software were not compatible with that operating system, i have now gone back to windows ME, and everything is fine again. hope this helps
