The 104/a04 is the new model and is said to have much better compatibility and the buffer underrun, not sure if the 103/a03 had this or not. Thats my 2cents. I have a 104/a04 and have no problems. If your gonna purchase one goto pricewatch and find it. They are $320 there

The 103 also sports the buffer underrun protection. Mine has it, as everybody´s.
In the other hand, the A04 or 104 is a newer, cheaper model. Does that mean anyting to you?

103 only has buffer underrun for DVD media(required by the DVD Video spec) not CD media. The 104 has it for both. If your 103 has buffer underrun for both then you need to share some F/W with the rest of us.
