  1. I know that there are many (S)VCD TMPGEnc templates out there. If I ever want to make a (S)VCD out of a DivX movie it is usually a high quality DVDrip. What template would you guys recommend as being the BEST for creating (S)VCD from a divx file?

The standard ones that come with TMPGenc are as good as any, and certainly the place to start. My strong view is that you should pick the corresponding template to suit the framerate in the original. After that, look in the Tools section on this site.

  3. If you can get the Aspect Ratio just right then use DVD2SVCD in AVI2SVCD mode --- it works good if you get the Aspect Ratio set correctly

DVD2SVCD uses CCE -- it is the best for SVCD

  5. @C-Dub: "crushed down to divx"? - divx 900 bitrate? divx 2000 bitrate - some DivX files can be near DVD quality if the bitrate is high enough.

Don't juge a DivX until you see it and check it's bitrate.
