Is there any way of converting a "wmv" clip to mpeg? I've looked all over the web and... I am stumped.

These clips play OK in Windows Media player (albeit with some hiccups) but are not "recognized" in any conversion program.

    Thanks for any tips.

Thanks. However, I used that TMPGen program and it didn't recognize the .wmv file.

It DOES, however, play fine with Windows Media Player. Am I missing a step here?

    Thanks for your help!

  3. You can do the Graphedt method - and go from wmv to high bitrate divx then to mpeg -- or wmv to uncompressed avi (very big file) and then convert to mepg in TMPGEnc

    see this link: http://www.bath.ac.uk/~ma9sjb/dvd/asf2avi.htm

asf / wmv it doesnt matter it's the same method for graphedt

or you cna put the wmv directly into TMPGEnc -- not ALWAYS possible but I get it done - go to options->environmental settings->vfapi plugins-> and set your Direct Show filter to 0 (zero) then try to open it ... if it still doesnt work.

create the full path to your wmv (ex: c:\video files\test.wmv) and put that directly into tmpgenc for both the audio and video then close TMPGEnc and re-open it --- that FORCE sometimes does the trick

good luck -- you can do it with graphedt for sure - but it's just not very user friendly
