A friend of mine was churning out bad VCD's; reject in all dvd drives. After numerous tests we finally isolated the problem. Somehow, for some reason the mpeg cutting is causing the problem. The work around for now is to divide movies by vob files. But does anyone know how to fix this?

You can always encode half at a time instead of splitting them at the end ! I have never had any trouble with mpeg tools in TmpgEnc

yeah I've been breaking up the vobs by chapter at the time of the rip and then finding a good break point. The result is a cleaner break but takes a little more time.

If you have it set to mpeg automatic it will screw it up. Make sure it's set to mpeg vcd.
