  1. I converted a very simple divx movie to SVCD using Tmpeg and burned the movie with Nero. I almost used the tmpeg SVCD NTSC presets (except for bitrate, which i adjusted) but now when i play it in my DVD player i cannot jump to sections in the movie. The movie plays fine, i can fast forward or back but cannot jump to 30 minutes into it. This isn't a problem with my DVD player because other SVCDs i have i can easily jump through to sections in the movie. I must be doing something in the encoding process?

  2. It could be that TMPEG or Nero are not generating accurate scan data. My Pioneer DVD player, for example, works better with SVCDs created with VCDImager than ones from Nero.

Try making a sample SVCD with VCDEasy (only try VCDImager if you're feeling ambitious). While you're at it, try enabling the "update scan offsets" option. (It's buried in somwhere VCDEasy's VCD Player settings.) VCDEasy is a free download from the Tools link, at left.

Don't fret about making the test disc look good--just make a quickie and see if your player likes it any better. That way you won't lose too much time if it doesn't help.
