THe Toshiba M1612 and Hitachi 8000 read dvd ram discs at 2x speed in addition to regualar dvds, dvd-rs etc. I was wondering if it would be able to read home movies recorded on dvd ram from a standalone dvd recorder such as a Panasonic E20? I am not sure if I would have to take the ram discs out of the cartridge or not; I'm going to be possisibly getting a pc dvd recorder such as a pioneer A04 and was wandering if I could put the ram disc in the Toshiba and copy it on to the Pioneer if I wanted to. Any info is always appreciated. Thanks

Hmmm... from the pix it seems that the M1612 does not support cartridges. Thus to use DVD-RAM with it would required a Type II removable cartridge, or else non-cartridge based DVD-RAM.
I may get one of these for my office, since I have a DVD-RAM burner at home.
