I'm using Flask and the Panasonic plugin to creat my VCD mpegs.
I've got some questions about the image filters.

    1st) Noise Reduction:
The filter has three levels, should I be using the strongest?

    2nd) Video Filters:
The filter has two modes: fixed and adaptive, each with variable intensity.
Currently I'm not using this filter because the help file said that the image may become blurry. Should I be using this filter and if so, what settings?

Any help / info is greatly appriciated.

  2. Gordo,
Any answer provided would be a reflection of our personal preferences. Basically what I consider to be 'best' might be crap to you. Try creating small video clips that you can remaster using serveral combos of filters to see which ones pleases you most.

As a rule of thumb the better your source the less filtering you will need. In my case since I use DVD sources I use basic filtering for comedies/drama and adaptive filters for fast action movies. The reason is that the VCDs low bitrate causes really bad motion artifacts that need to be drastically softened.

Thats my 2 Cents, Hope it helps.
