Audio Blips when encoding in DIVx

I am trying to encode the Phantom Menace. I have ripped the DVD using SmartRipper and using DVDx to encode into DIVx 5.0 (not the Pro version as I dont like spyware!). The thing is that the picture is sperb at 800Kbits/second but I am getting audio dropout - not regular but at least every 20 seconds or so (but not by an exact amount everytime).

I have checked through the guides and can see no mention of this. I am using the LAME MP3 codec for audio, DIVx 5.0 standard for video.

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

55 of you have viewed - can no-one give any hints. It is most frustrating. I used SmartRipper - should i have used another oneor what?
