Hi. I'm capturing this VHS tape with a panasonic VCR connected to an ES10 & USB Live-2
The issue i'm having is the line running across about 3/4 down the tape.
I cannot fix this by adjusting the tracking.
I'm wonder if it's actually a tape issue.
Thank you

The clear sign of a tape recorded on a misaligned vcr. Best solution would be to misalign (the exit guide) on purpose, a bit risky but i did it before. Just use a 2nd vcr of less value for that.

How risky it is depends on the person, their skills and the tools used. For a skilled person with the right tools it's not risky. For an unskilled person using the wrong tools it can indeed be very risky and better not attempted IMO, regardless of the value of the machine. So it's hard to make a rule about this as we dont all have the same skills.
