Multiples of 8 error in avi to mpeg conversion

I have obtained several avi files. some of them are successfully converted to mpeg and I can view them on my dvd player, but some cannot be converted cause the frame height and width are not in multiples of 8.
is there a way to convert these files to mpeg. The conversion tool I am using is TMPGEnc. Are there other conversion tools I can use?

Actually, all you have to do is make the files multiples of 8 when converting in TMPGEnc. Just go to the setting button after you load the avi, and increase the screen size to a multiple of 8 (TMPGEnc automaticly counts by 8, so just go up one setting). It will create a black border in the extra area, but it will work.
