Are there any minimum system requirements for ripping DVDs to SVCD? Is there any risk for dropped frames, lost sync or will just take a looong time? (I have a Celeron 333, DMA/33)

i never had a problem and i have a celeron 333 with 96meg ram and 6x toshiba dvd-rom using w2k.
you just copy the vobs to the harddrive shouldn't be any dropped frames at all.
make sure you have plenty of drive space...

you'll be amazed, but i have managed to make a svcd from DVD with a 486!!.
the only problem was the burning part; i had to do that with my celeron 466.
btw, you better keep useing the celeron or a better system for it. by the time you fully ripped a dvd with a 486 you'll be 87 (asumeing you are 21 now).

you rule.
i how long was the movie, and how long did it take you to make it? what software did you use?
that is awesome that you did that.
i have a p2-300 and i thought mine would take a long time!

i just ripped the Dolby Digital intro for testing perpose; just wondered how long it would take. all in total i think it took me one month alltogether.
the p2 300 is simular to my system. useing LSX Mpeg encoder, it takes me roughly 20/25 times the length of the DVD cuz i put everything on highest quality possible.
i think you'll need the same amount of time
g'luck
