  1. Lately I've noticed my Lenovo Ideapad laptop running Windows 11 keeps crashing particularly when using youtube when I bring up a new tab. I will often crash at when doing other tasks like using Handbrake to encode a video. I had this problem a few years ago when I was using an APK for Whatsapp, but after I uninstalled it the problem seemed to go away. Since then I've used the proper Whatsapp app, but lately Windows seems to be crashing alot more especially when using certain sites like youtube, though I'm not sure if it's down to Firefox. Often also there is barely any HDD space left. Also fails to update Windows security. The screen (more so on youtube) when viewing the main page, will flash in and out.

Anyone know what could be causing this?. Seems like a hardware fault or maybe a virus?. The lack or RAM and HDD space is odd.

  2. Looks like two error messages. The firefox one indicates a missing file. Don't know if that is related to the underlying message but maybe you could try to reinstall firefox to at least fix one of the messages. Here's some help in resolving the firefox error....

The smaller error message appeared straight after the other one. I will reinstall Firefox but I think it crashes using Chrome as well. Youtube seems to be crashing the most on but not just with youtube.

  5. I uninstalled Firefox and just used Chrome. Browsing seems OK for a few hours logged into youtube, but after the browser has been open for awhile, all of a sudden after I bring up a new tab the screen goes black and crashes and there's no way to press Ctrl At Del to get into task manager. So the problem isn't just with Firefox it seems. It's as if the processor can't deal with it running so long or when a new tab is opened or when a video is playing. This laptop has never been great from the moment I bought it about 3 years ago; I've never known a laptop crash so much as this one, none of my two other laptops and my XP desktop crashed as much as this and with the RAM and HDD space dropping so much, and they had their fair share of malware, adware, viruses etc on them.

The procedure for this kind of non-specific problem is always the same. Do these items in order

First make sure the hardware is OK
Run MDSched (built into Windows; to check the RAM memory, run from the Admin command prompt, it will give a small report after
    the system has rebooted)
Run Crystadiskinfo to check the HDD/SSD https://sourceforge.net/projects/crystaldiskinfo/files/9.5.0/CrystalDiskInfo9_5_0.zip/download

    Check the file system integrity:
Run CHKDSK /F c: from the Admin command prompt (it will ask you to reboot and run it as it starts back up)

To check the Windows updates component store, and runtime files (from the Admin command prompt)
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    SFC /Scannow

Run Disk Cleanup to free up HDD/SSD space (after it runs make a note of your free space; gives you a baseline)

Perhaps you should consider taking it to a shop and getting the SSD upgraded to something bigger.

  7. Would any of the Event Viewer logs be of help? Like the Windows System log?

I'm on a Win7 unit here and haven't fired up my Win10 unit in quite a while, so maybe Microsoft has changed that Event Viewer log and I am not remembering that bit of information. BUT I have used the Event Viewer a number of times as a first start to troubleshooting. I tend to try and look at the log from way before an actual timestamp of a situation showing itself to see if a chain of events could help answer questions.
Who will eventually be chosen to regulate the Internet?
