Been looking for a mobile SD video storage solution to go with a SDI capture device for analog tape materials to replace the computer in certain situations, The goal is to record the lossless files then come back home, dump the files into the computer for processing.
I came across the Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Shuttle 2 that supposedly can record digitally from a SDI output in lossless quicktime, It is compliant with SMPTE 259M, rec. 601 for SD SDI which is suitable for the capturing task. My question is, how manageable Quicktime files are in a PC environment? and is Quicktime truly lossless or is it just like ProRes? Which by the way it does additionally support.
