Hi all, first-time poster
I recorded a video on my phone.
When I import it into VSDC it seems to have gutter/padding around it, as shown here (yellow arrows denote padding):

I don't know where this is coming from. When I play the video in, say, Windows Media Player, the paddinng isn't there. And in VSDC, if I go Crop > Custom region, the video displays without padding.

Basically I just want the canvas to match the video size/dimensions. Is this possible? (Obviously I'd need to rotate it too, but I'll deal with it after solving this issue).
Thanks in advance!

Rotating it (probably) WILL solve the issue.
Odds are you shot it in portrait mode (so ~1080 x 1920) and your editor is using landscape mode widescreen (~1920 x 1080). If you do the math, you will see that what you are experiencing will look exactly like how it tries to accommodate the discrepancy, with auto-generated padding/borders.

Thank you for the replies. Rotating it in VSDC did not solve the issue but it's true that I seem to have recorded the video in portrait mode (my fault - it should have been landscape.) I'll try again!
