I was using VideoDownloadHelper to download a 1970s shot-on-tape TV show (so, it's native format is SD NTSC resolution). In the download options, the highest resolution settings is 854x640, and 640x480 is also a setting, but renders a much smaller file.

So, what is 854x640 anyway? SD for NTSC would be 480 pixels high rather than 640, right? HD starts at 720, doesn't it? I know they streamer might be upscaling, so I'm aware of that. Still, the 854x640 file only yields about a 700mb file for a 65 minute video.

If I were to burn this file in Toast, would I need to burn it in HD mode (for BDR blanks), or should I burn it as a DVD instead?

Sorry if all this sounds so clueless. I've been disc burning for years, but this particular resolution puzzles me.

I called it pseudo-panoramic format because it's not true 16:9 panoramic, it just 'fits' 4:3 format into 16:9 dimensions.

854x640 looks like upscaled 4:3 AR format, or downscaled 720p.
Since the show I saw was originally shot on NTSC video, then it's likely upscaled 4:3 SD video.
