Works fine however when Picture Search is requested, the tape loses tension momentarily and the machine scratches the tape causing permanent damage.
I'd like to find a schematic or service manual.
My novice guess is that the electronic back tension needs marginally increased.

You may want to check both take up and supply spindles' brake pads, The easiest way to check them is with the lid off, insert at least a 2hr cassette, fast forward until it picks up speed and hit stop, this checks the supply spindle brake, then rewind until it picks up speed and hit stop, this checks the take up spindle brake, if the reel/spindle keeps spinning after stop you got worn out brake pads.
Don't mess with tape tension, increasing it will only make things worse.
