  1. HI i have been trying to make a short music mpeg VCD to work on my samsung 709 player. I have done many attempts and have followed the tutorial and guide but the prob i get is that right at the end of the VCD it pixelates roughly in the same place everytime but is fine on my pc Here is some info that might help,

Holly Valance -- kiss kiss mpeg
    352x288
    25,000 fps
    141 kb/s (average bit rate)

The Template i use in TMPGEnc. is VideoCD PAL as the video source is 25 FPS. as noted in the guide

i have tried the folowing cd's with NERO Burn v.5.8 (also tried burning at very slow speed)

    Hewlett Packard CD-RW
    TDK CD-R
    Verbatim Datalife CD-R

  2. Your bit rate is way way too low it should be at least 1150kb for vcd
We were all NEWBIES once and the only stupid question is the one that's not asked?

  6. It is probably just a bad file I have had similar problems as well.
I have tried multiple times to re-convert with the same results.
The other problem it could be is your player might not except non-compliant vcds.

  7. While I have given away my 709 now,

The only thing I can think of, is the 709 is VERY fussy about the type of disk that you put in. i.e. the make of disk, I used to use vivastars, allways worked but not in SVCD format.

Does the audio go as well or is it video that pixels? if it is the audio as well it could be a disk problems, the other thing it could be, what version is your bios?

www.709online.com has a lot of stuff about this.

  8. Hi paul thanks for your reply i have been trying more tests and checked out the url for my samsung player. The version of my Bios is v.4.51pg (please correct me if it does not sound right) and as for the mpeg breaking when playing on the player out of the attemtps i've made its mainly the video that breaks up and the audio somtimes is ok. I also tried a different music video which is roughly the same,

    Faithless -- Insominia
    352x288
    25,000fps
    1150kb/s
    44kHz stereo

with this one both the audio and video started to go wrong.
I think the next thing i will try is...

    1) try Princo and Vivistars CD-RW (uses say they seem to work better)
    2) try the VCD in a different player
    3) try differernt mpegs (have done but no joy)
    4) ask the audience
