  1. Hello

I am looking for a dvd burner for my wife to get me for xmas.

I want an external one...I can get one up to about $400

I have seen 3 and read around a bit but I am wondering what everyone thinks of them.

One is hp dvd writer dvd200e
the other is the Ikebana external
the other is a buslink external dvd drive..

Any ideas on which would be the best for me to ask for?

    Thanks!

Of course you will need some media to burn so try this:

  4. Thanks for the replies.

Is an external FIREWIRE case hard to use? I have seen them before.

do the internal dvd players just pop right into it?

I have to make sure its dummy proof

Will any type of external case work?

  5. external cases are really easy to use.

I have a Ads USB 2.0 drive kit with a pioneer 104 in it and it took me about 10 minutes to set up. And havent had a problem yet.

everyone here has already recomended great products, so I'll leave mine out

  6. Ok One more question then I will leave everyone alone..actually 2 more questions

    1. I found a Pioneer 104 and it says dvd-r ..Is there a big difference between -r and +r ?? I have been reading around and get different answers..

I have a pioneer 434 dvd player and a apex 1500 dvd player

    2. what kind of media do I look for and where is the cheapest?

I saw the with dvd-r there are 2 types of dvds you can buy and I dont have a clue what the difference is!
