  1. Hi, I have had the ATI AIW card for over 2 years and have not been able to use it for video capture.
I have installed the latest driver, latest direct x and directx video capture.
I have uninstalled old driver, removed all ATI files, including registry, then install the new. I still have the original MMC from CD.
I keep getting a box saying
    CAN'T LOAD VIDEO DRIVER
VIDEO BOARD NOT DETECTED OR ALREADY IN USE
HARDWARE MAYBE IMPROPERLY INSTALLED OR ALREADY IN USE
    BY ANOTHER APPLICATION.
I have been using ulead video studio SE and Moviexone 4.0 free version.
I would be very greatful if someone could help me.
    Thanks
    Darren

I know this might seem like a silly question, but you hav'nt got another graphics card installed have you. You are using the AIW as your graphics card as well as a capture card.?

  3. Hi Craig,
Yes, that's right, my AIW is both for graphics and video capture.
Could this be the problem ?

No, I was suggesting that if you had another graphics card installed they could be conflicting with one another, but as this is your only graphics card this is obviously not the case.
Is your card an AGP card or a PCI card. If it is PCI try it in a different slot.
If it is AGP try removing all your PCI/ISA cards and see if it will work then. If it does work add your other cards one by one to see if the problem reoccurs. You may be getting some sort of conflict with another card.

    Hi,

Dont forget to setup your BIOS to have your AGP card as the primary video card, because PCI is always the default option...

I have that card without problems when capturing (using the MMC provided in CD, because MMC7.5 and MMC7.6 is not appropriated to the old RAGE 128 Pro chipset).

Also remember that, in IRQ sharing table, if you have an AGP card, the first PCI slot (the closer of the AGP slot) share the same IRQ so you should leave the first slot alone (no sound card, modem or whatever installed) In my case, i used that slot space to put an exhaustor close the AGP card...

  6. I was having similar problems and the only thing that worked for me after NUMEROUS tries installing/re-installing various versions of drivers and MMC was a clean install. Removed all cards and everything. Then put them back one at a time starting with the AIW. Currently I'm using DX8.1 and the latest WDM drivers (7192) and MMC 7.6 without any problems. <fingers crossed>

I have been into the BIOS, but can't see how to set AGP card as my primary video card.
Please could you give me step by step instructions.
I have removed all other cards including sound card and done a complete re-install, but I still have the same problem.
