resize problems

hi there..
i'm trying to make a svcd from a avi but every time its going wrong...
first i load the avi in virtual dub and i resize it to 480 x 480 with letterboxing.. then i frameserve it to cce 2.5 sp and encode it.. after that i change the frame rate with pulldown.. but everytime the image is stretched.. allthough the preview in virtual dub showed fine...

i also tried all the aspect ratios in cce available.. (1:1,4:3 and 16:9)..
who can tell me what i do wrong??

did you look at the how to convert guide at the left?
I think you need to resize to 480x360 and letterbox to 480x480
(if this is what you did, it's not all that clear in your post)
